Matthew 4:4 NKJV “But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”” A sword is an offensive weapon. The word of God is the sword of the Spirit. It is part of the Christian armour that you are meant to use to resist the enemy and stand your ground on the evil day. You need this word to combat the enemy’s assault just as Jesus overcame every temptation of the devil with the word. Jesus defeated Satan by applying the sword of the Spirit. Satan can also quote the word of God but he does not quote it completely and correctly. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Tim 2:15 NKJV The enemy will try to cheat you out of your inheritance, if you do not know what is written in God’s word.
